Why Seedless?
Risks related to seed phrases
Many users have lost their funds either by losing their piece of paper or a record they kept on the device/online, or by inputting seed phrases in the wrong place. Many hackers also target seed phrases, stealing them by phishing attacks, fake wallets, or scanning users’ private data stored online.
We believe that seed phrase, similar to private key, is a single point of failure. Losing seed phrase is a critical vulnerability that is putting all users’ funds safety at risk, being even much worse than losing a single private key, as seed phrase often represents multiple private keys that the user already uses. In most cases losing one seed phrase means losing everything.
Besides, storing seed phrases in a safe place and remembering it requires extra effort from the user. We believe that seed phrase is not a perfect way to back up and restore wallet, especially for inexperienced users.
As we learned from Web2 and crypto industry experience, most users are not tech-savvy, and the new technologies require a significant period of time for a full-adoption. Crypto industry is still in the early stage, it is developing faster than the average user can learn and adapt to the changes, and many solutions such as seed phrases may act just as a temporary fix. We believe that many Web2 practices have already reached mass-adoption, and with some extra layers of security and upgrades they can be safely implemented in Web3, minimizing the learning threshold for ordinary users.
